“May” I Do Something Nice For You
MSM’s “May” I do something nice for you event was a great success! Throughout the month of May, employees from all branches performed random acts of kindness. The tough part was remembering to document these kind acts with a photo. Our Facebook wall, as well as the actual wall in the Buffalo Grove Lunchroom, is peppered with images of these generous acts. Simple things, such as giving someone a hug, a surprise lottery ticket, or even a sweet treat helped brighten someone’s day. The smiles from the recipients made it all worth the effort. A great job by the MSM employees spreading smiles around our communities.
MSM In Touch With Local Schools
On April 21st, MSM President Thomas Hughes joined other local advertising executives to help judge and critique groups of 4th grade students from Kimball Hill Elementary School in Rolling Meadows. Based loosely on the television show Shark Tank, students presented fictitious products based on several figures from Greek Mythology, and tried to get the “sharks” to invest in their products. This was MSM’s second year participating in this fun event which teaches children about advertising, marketing, sales, public speaking and teamwork!
Cubs Home Opener Celebration

More than 60 MSM employees from our main office, branch offices and those who worked from home enjoyed a fantastic pre-New Year’s party at D’Agostino’s in Wheeling. Luckily the weather was on our side as we had employees coming from as far as Wisconsin and Indiana to enjoy the festivities.

Feed My Starving Children 2016
Feed My Starving Children 2016 was a success! A small but mighty group of MSM and INT employees teamed up with an enthusiastic and hard working group of scientists from Abbvie. The combined efforts of the teams resulted in 19 boxes packed and shipped to children in Swatini, a landlocked country in Southern Africa.
Orphans of the Storm Fundraiser
Thanks to the MSM managers for volunteering to take a pie in the face which resulted in raising $511 to help the dogs and cats at Orphans of the Storm in Riverwoods. For each dollar donated, the MSM and INT employees had an opportunity to spin the wheel and see if their “favorite” manager got whip cream in the face. $311 was raised by the employees, and MSM gladly matched up to $200, for a fantastic total of $511. Based on the laughs and smiles during the four-day event, I am not sure who had more fun, the employees or the managers!
Thanks to the generous contribution of the MSM employees, along with help from the INT families, some very lucky Chicago Public School students will be well-equipped to start the next school year. More than 12 filled backpacks and three boxes of school supplies were sent to Operation Backpack.
4th of July Celebration
4th of July has come and gone, but MSM made sure its employees kicked off the long holiday weekend with some fun. MSM’s first cook out of the year was a huge success and even had some friends and family stop by to enjoy the festivities.
MSM Penny Wars
MSM Penny Wars was a huge success. Over $1,023.00 was raised for the American Cancer Society in memory of MSM Salesman Tom Elwood. This two week event was great fun for all involved. The company was divided into 6 teams: management, administrative and 4 sales teams. The goal of the event was for each team to have the most pennies in their team jar. Each penny was worth +1 point. Each silver coin or paper money in the jar was worth negative its value. The teams were required to strategize as to where they wanted to deposit their donation. They could put pennies in their own jar, but which team should they target with the silver?
Hot Dog & Hat Day
MSM kicked off the 2016 baseball season by celebrating with Hot Dog and Hat Day. MSM employees happily sported their favorite hats in exchange for a ball park themed hot dog and peanut lunch. Most employees were showing their Chicago team spirit by wearing either Sox or Cubs hats, however any hat counts on Hot Dog and Hat Day.

MSM employees pre-celebrated the Cub’s victory over the Pirates with a hotdog lunch on Wednesday. Hopefully, there will be a lot more celebrating in the next few weeks!
MSM Donates Clothes to AMVETS
What a great job by all the MSM employees! During our September community outreach, over 24 bags of clothing were collected and donated to AMVETS, benefitting military families. MSM employees should be very proud that they are able to not only sell the public service announcements successfully, but are also embodying the spirit of these messages.
Red Cross Training & Certification
Last week five MSM employees became certified in First Aid, CPR and AED use by the Red Cross. Red Cross instructor Shari Hatfield conducted the training in the MSM training room.
